It has certainly been fabulous beach weather. Don't spoil the fun by going out on your jetski if it hasn't been appropriately maintained. Before every use, check it over! A few minutes spent before launching will make it an enjoyable outing for everyone—not an unwanted rescue by the Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad. Not that we mind; that is what we do. We have been patrolling the Southern Peninsula waters since Christmas so that we are able to respond quickly. Patrolling, not just waiting to be called out by Water Police.
It was an early start to a fantastic day. The 39th Portsea Swim Classic was a huge success, with more swimmers than ever. Southern Peninsula had two rescue boats offshore to assist with rescue services should they be required. Surprisingly, they weren't needed, although the conditions were challenging, to say the least. Well done to all the swimmers and well done to the volunteers of Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad.

An inflatable seahorse! What fantastic fun for the kids. Our crew recovered this one a long way from shore. We want to emphasise to parents that children playing on these can easily be swept out. At the end of a long day, our volunteers must refuel to prepare for the next day (or night). All the rescue services on the Peninsula have been very busy, and not every call-out has a happy ending. Remember to thoroughly check your vessel, be careful and stay safe on the water.

EMV will supply the boats. As they are with every other volunteer service that isn’t considered redundant
Government supplies rescue boats , or they will again when they get some more Chinese money. In the meantime pray that EMV doesn't shut you down by decommissioning your old boats like they did to Coast Guards oldest original flotilla .
